We are currently in the process of renaming WordPress CSV Importer too CSV 2 POST in order to fully comply with WordPress trademark policies. As requested by WordPress themselves so the change is sudden and we must be swift in our effort. It poses some potential, temporary complication for users of WordPress CSV Importer but it must be done. Once everything has been changed and in place. It will work out for the best and is partly inline with our long term plans that we had for the rest of 2012 and 2013.
We already have www.csv2post.com in use as one of this plugins developers owned it already.
CSV 2 POST On WordPress.org
Ryan Bayne was the author of the first CSV 2 POST plugin which was discontinued on WordPress. It was a very basic plugin and a prototype compared to WordPress CSV Importer. However we are awaiting confirmation that the CSV 2 POST repository on WordPress.org can be used again.
We were always going to re-launch CSV 2 POST, just not in this way. It was going to be a unique plugin, now it will simply be the main plugin, what is currently WordPress CSV Importer.
WordPress CSV Importer On WordPress.org
This is where the complication comes in. The WordPress CSV Importer on WordPress.org will become a data importer only, no post creation. This is something we are keen to see through. The existing plugin will be slimmed down to leave only data management related features.
The plugin will continue to get updates and we will focus on creating a data management tool that does many unique things.
Any customers using the full edition of WordPress CSV Importer must take care. CSV 2 POST will not instantly use the WordPress CSV Importer project data or settings. We would need to create a tool that allows existing installations to be converted. We feel due to the plugin being so new that this is not an urgent requirement, unless demanded by users.
Everyone will continue to get the data import and post creation plugin we have been offering. It simply has a different name and will now be provided on a different page on WordPress.org, thank you for your patience through these times. We are determined to reach our goals which will deliver some great plugins so all patience is appreciated.
